The Others...
(cool header graphic coming someday!)

Aside from a large collection of great Rock and Roll autographs, over time we've also aquired a nice handful of what I call "other autographs". What I mean by that is, celebrity autographs outside the R and R universe...TV, movies, sports, etc. And, instead of going through the trouble of scanning them (I am a lazy S.O.B.), I've decided to just list them here with a brief description for each.

Neal Adams

I met the comic book legend at the 2015 East Coast Comic Con here in New Jersey. One of the many influential artists that inspired me in my younger years, I purchased a print of Conan The Barbarian that he was selling and had it signed.

Tim Allen / Debbe Dunning

For a period of time, my sister worked in the accounting department of the studio producing Tim's TV show on ABC, Home Improvement. Tim signed an 8x10 for me. Also, during that time, my sister also got me a signed 8x10 of Debbe Dunning. Dunning was the replacement Tool Time Girl character on the program after Pamela Anderson left that roll.

Ed Asner

Good ol' Lou Grant...actually "Santa" from the Elf movie!! Caught up with Ed at a Chiller convention where he signed my daughter's Elf DVD and an 8x10 of him as Santa from that movie.

Susan Backlinie

WHO? Jaws...the girl that goes skinny dipping and gets attacked by the shark in the beginning of the movie...?? That's who!

Kevin Bacon

Donna and I caught Kevin while he was doing a one-man play off Broadway. I decided to write Kevin care of the theater to ask if he would sign a copy of the Playbill and send it back in the supplied stamped, self-addressed envelope. I included a copy of our ticket stub as proof of going to the show. Instead of the Playbill, he just signed the xerox of the ticket stub?!?!

Linda Blair

Another Chiller Convention, another autograph for $$$. Linda was OK...VERY long wait on a short line and she even left for a dinner break (which meant we left and came back)! Anyway, she signed our Exorcist DVD.

George Carlin

I had won a contest on WDHA-FM for tickets to see George and then do a "meet and greet" after the show. Well, after the show, George just hit the road. Coincidentally, I had already purchased tickets to see George at another venue (The old Club Bene in Sayreville, NJ) later that month. So while we were at that show, I wrote a quick note to George on a napkin saying that we had seen him a few weeks earlier but missed meeting him in person. A short time later Carlin's driver came to our table and told us to meet him by the stage after the show. George was very personable and signed some 8x10's for my wife, Donna, my sister-in-law and myself.

Howard Chaykin

I met Chaykin at a recent comic con here in Jersey and he was graciously signing anything for fans for a donation to a fund to benefit artists without health benefits.

Robert Culp and Bill Cosby

Say what people will now about Cosby, but in the early 60's I Spy was a groundbreaking show. It was one of my faves at the time. I picked up a nice signed and certified 11x14 of the two actors, taken during their I Spy days.

Beverly D'Angelo

While visiting my sister out in California we stopped at a "hip" burger place called Ed ???. While there, Beverly D'Angelo walks in and sits down at the booth next to ours. So, of course, I had to ask...!

Joyce Dewitt

One of those rare occassions where Donna, Annie and I attended one of those conventions where celebs sign stuff for $$$. I must admit, Ms. Dewitt was VERY pleasant and a joy. She not only signed our purchased 8x10 but threw in a "freebie" signed to Annie and posed for a quick photo.

Richard Dreyfus

We met Richard at Chiller Con 2009. He was pretty cool and funny. There was a looong line for him so it's not like he could spend time chatting and stuff. He did, at least, let us take 2 photos since our daughter, Annie, wasn't "ready" for the first shot. Also signed our DVD of Close Encounters.

Keir Dullea

Keir, the star of the classic 2001, A Space Odessey, was at a special screening of the movie at the Loew's Theater in Jersey City. My pal Tom Noonan loiters and helps out there often and he was nice enough to snag me Keir's autograph on my DVD of 2001.

Clint Eastwood

Got a beautifully signed 8x10 of Clint as Det. Harry Callahan (Dirty Harry) that I picked up from a local auction.

Giancarlo Esposito

Giancarlo is best known for his portrayal of Gustavo "Gus" Fring on the AMC series Breaking Bad. Annie and I met him at 2016 The Walking Dead Expo here in New Jersey.

John Fiore

Fiore played Gigi Cestone on a number of episodes of the Sopranos. Fiore's character also met an untimely death on the show but not by the hands of Tony Soprano or any members of Tony's crew. Gigi Cestone died on the toilet due to the strain of being so "plugged up" by eating too much holiday turkey! BADA BING!! Fiore made an appearance at a cigar store in Watchung where we met him and he signed a copy of "The Sopranos Unauthorized" DVD.

Basil Gogos

I met artist, Basil Gogos, at a recent comci con in New Jersey. His intense artwork adorned a number of issues of Creepy, Eerie and Famous Monsters of Filmland during my younger years and I just had to purchase a print (Frankenstein!) and have him sign it.

Louis Gossett, Jr.

One of the first accounting gigs my sister got after moving out to California was working on the movie, Diggstown. One of the stars of the movie was Lou Gossett. so my sister was able to get a signed 8x10 AND one of the shirts worn by Lou in the movie.

Evander Holyfield

Holyfield was making a special appearance at the grand opening of a new (now defunct) Sneaker Stadium sporting goods store. They ran out of 8x10 glossies after the initial 200(!) so they distributed xerox copies. Evander was great...even after signing and having his picture taken with over 200 people beefore us, he still signed and got up from his seat to take a picture with us! I remember Donna telling him to stay seated because he looked so tired!

Bernard Kerik

Kerik was the NYC Police Commissioner in charge on 9/11. A short time later he published his autobiography and was doing a book signing at Borders Books in north Jersey. The book signing was a joke since the staff went to great lengths to ask you ahead of time "who do you want this made out to?" and then they would jot the name down on a Post-It Note so Kerik would see it. When it came time for the signing, Kerik was busy talking to his aides, so he didn't bother to look at the Post-Its and he hardly chatted with anyone...AND his signature is basically a scribble!!

Stan Lee

Stan "The Man" Lee himself!! Picked up a signed Fantastic Four Human Torch toy, with the outer package signed by Stan. Seems appropriate since The Fantastic Four was THE comic that started it all for me (issue #68) many years ago. Comes with a C of A as well.

Michael Moore

Donna, Annie and I caught up with Michael during a book signing at Bookends up in North Jersey.

Joe Namath

Probably one the most unusual autographs for me, not being a sports fan, but regardless of knowing nothing about football, I always thought Broadway Joe was THE coolest!!

Patricia Neal

Like Kier Dullea above, Ms. Neal also appeared at the Loew's theater for a screening of (my all time favorite 50's sci-fi film) The Day The Earth Stood Still. Tom had her sign the DVD insert for me.

Dolly Parton

Getting a bit "nervous" after a series earthquakes out in California, my sister decided to move to Florida for aa while. While there, she landed a job handling accounting in the production department for Dolly Parton's talk show (that never happened). My sister had Dolly sign an 8x10 photo along with a copy of Dolly's autobiography. (I've since moved Dolly to my Rock and Roll Autographs pages.)

Stephanie Powers

Got a great signed 8x10 of Stephanie, as April Powers from The Girl from UNKLE. Ordered that through her website!

Al Roker

Al was just starting to become "a personality" as a local weatherman on NBC while branching out into other things on the Today show, etc. He was doing an "in-store" appearance at a local Target store where he signed 8x10 glossies for everybody.

Steve Schirripa

I met Steve aka, Bobby Bacala from The Sopranos HBO series, when he was out promoting Soparanos wines at a local liquor store. Steve signed the two bottles I bought along with one of my Soparnos DVD box sets.

John Schneider

Yep...Bo Duke. He signed a couple of "Dukefest 2008" T-shirts for my wife and daughter at a recent Chiller convention...and MAN he looks good!!

Seka

Sorry folks, but growing up at the time that I did, porn actress Seka was "the one" for me!! I grabbed a nice (and clean!) signed 8x10 from her website.

Frank Sivero

Character actor Frank Sivero was also at the same convention as Joyce DeWitt, etc., signing autographs. I had Frank sign my DVD insert of Goodfellas. In Goodfellas he's the mob guy they find frozen hanging in meat truck! "Cool!"

Joe Staton

Got to meet Joe at a recent comic con where I had him sign my issue number 1 of the comic, E-Man.

Jim Steranko

It was a great, great opportunity for me to meet the amazing Jim Steranko at the 2014 Asbury Park Comic Con (now known as the East Coast Comic Con). Steranko is a legend in the comic book art field and was another influential artist in my younger years. We chatted for a few minutes and he signed a few things for me. I also purchased one of his Captain America lithographs and had that signed as well.

Frank Thorne

I just had to put Frank up here! Long time friend and all around great guy!! Frank had been slugging it out for years as a comic book illustrator and doing OK. Then, in the late 70's he took over the duties for Marvel Comic's Red Sonja and BANG! Frank became a huge celebrity in the business. Over the years, Frank moved on to create his graphic novel character, Ghita of Alizar as well as Moonshine McJugs and Danger Rangerette for Playboy magazine. Over the years Frank has treated us to unique "one-of-a-kind" Christmas cards as well as a portrait sketch of our daughter, Annie.

SPECIAL GROUPING

For a "milestone" birthday gift to Donna, I had attempted to contact by mail, a number of her favorite celebrities. I hand wrote each letter I sent out and included a blank card and a self-addressed stamped envelope for returning. All I asked is that they sign the card "Happy Birthday, Donna" and sign it. I ended up getting about 18 responses...

was doing the TV show Dellaventura at the time and sent a birthday greeting.

Nicholas Cage
sent back the card with little flower doodles on both sides.

Art Carney
Responded with a nice Happy Birthday wish.

Sally Field

Sammy Hagar
