Phil's Rock and Roll Autographs!!

Yngwie Malmsteen was passing thru NJ at the Starland Ballroom. My pal Dave Iozzia and I hung out during soundcheck where I got to catch vocalist Doogie White and drummer Patrik Johansson outside the club. Both guys were very cool before and during the show where they signed autographs for the fans. Patrik would draw these little drumming stick figures (shown on the bottom right corner of my poster) for EVERYBODY who asked him for an autograph...even during the show!! A little foolish in retrospect, but a group of us waited outside, in the cold, late at night after the show, to try and catch Yngwie for an autograph. As what seems like "tradition", when Yngwie finally came outside (around 2:00am!) he hopped on the (warm) bus and his manager came out to collect items for him to sign. Oh well...

My pal Dave Iozzia caught up with Steelheart frontman, Miljenko Matlievic while on tour with The Door's Robbie Krieger and Ray Manzarek. Miljenko says that Steelheart will be touring and in the Jersey area soon!

Canadian guitar master, Frank Marino was offering autographed CDs on his website. Since I missed Frank's recent (and rare in these parts) tour stops in the NY/NJ area, I just had to get this! Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush LPs were a MUST in my...ahem, "formative years".

It was a blast to meet up with Vince, lead guitarist for the Vanilla Fudge! Vince was one of the guests at NJ's "Weekend of 100 Rock Stars" Convention and he happily signed a few items for me.

My bud, Dave Iozzia snagged this promo CD by the band Mean Venus, signed by lead singer "J".

I had the great opportunity to meet the legendary Meat Loaf who stopped by the WDHA studios to talk with Terrie Carr about his new CD "Hang Cool Teddy Bear". Meat was very friendly and kindly signed my stuff, including a promo soundtrack album for the movie "Roadie" which Meat stars in but does not contribute to the music on the record!

Megadeth

Megadeth was headlining the Summer's 2005 "Gigantour" along with Dream Theater. I had never seen either band and had wished that I had either bought a ticket or at least tried to win some from WDHA. To my rescue comes my friends Ted and Rob with an extra ticket to the show at the last minute!! When I arrived at the PNC Arts Center, I came across the vendor booth selling CDs of the various bands on the Gigantour tour. The best part was that for most bands, if you bought any CD you would get an opportunity for a "meet and greet"! I figured it was a great opportunity to meet Dave Mustaine of Megadeth!! Cool!

After Danger Danger, lead singer Ted Poley formed numerous bands...one of which being Melodica. I found this copy of the band's 2001 release "Love Metal" in the used bin at CD World. It has Ted's autograph as well as two others...one looks like bass player Joe Slattery and the other I can't make out.

I caught up with guitar shredder Metal Mike at a recent Chiller Con. Mike has lent his talents to Rob Halford and Sebastian Bach, to name a few. AND he is a good friend to MY good friend, Dave Iozzia! Here Mike signed a CD insert of Metal For Life from his band, PainmuseuM!

Thanks to Dave Iozzia again for snagging this promo CD for me of the band Miss Derringer. They opened for Blondie on a recent stop in NJ. The disc is signed by all members...vocalist Liz McGrath, guitarist Morgan Slade as well as Sylvain de Muizon, Cody Cox and Lightnin' Bill Woodcock!

There are legendary guitar players and then there are legends. Ronnie Montrose is a LEGEND!! I believe the first two Montrose albums (Montrose and Paper Money) paved the way for modern guitar rock...and introduced the world to a young Sammy Hagar. Ronnie rarely tours on the East Coast and to have the opportunity to actually meet the man in person....what can I say?? Thanks, RONNIE!!!.

Mr. Big...one of my favorite bands from the 80's and 90's!! I don't remember the whole story here, but I apparently had written to the band expressing my disappointment with a show being cancelled...what a dick I am!...anyway, somebody from the Mr. Big Fan Club decided to compensate my frustration by sending me the fan club newsletter and a postcard autographed by the band.

Many thanks to my bud Dave Iozzia of www.davesontour.com and, of course, the generous management for Night Ranger for supplying us with photo AND meet and greet passes to a recent show at The Starland Ballroom. It was a blast to meet face-to-face with these legendary 80's rockers Jack Blades, Brad Gillis and Kelly Keagy (who signed all the CD inserts) along with "new" members Joel Hoekstra (from Broadway's Rock of Ages) and Christian Cullen. They had handed out pre-signed promo photos of the band, but I opted for MY promo photo signed by the guys.

My daughter Annie and I caught up with Willie Nile while doing an in-store performance at Vintage Vinyl. Willie signed the CD to Annie, making reference to his song on the disk "Asking Annie Out".

For Donna's birthday I bought tickets to see Peter Noone at the NJ Arts Center in Rahway, NJ. It's a small venue and after the show you could meet Peter Noone. It was a really cool show...he not only did Herman's Hermits songs, but other tunes of artists from that time. And if you're like me, you'll say to yourself "isn't THAT one a Hermans Hermits' song, too???"

I caught up with Eddie, guitarist for Twisted Sister, at a recent Chiller Theatre convention in NJ. Normally I'm not into those "pay-for-my-autograph" shows, but Donna and I had other reasons to be there and in all fairness, Eddie only charged $5 each for charity. Eddie signed his solo disc and a Twisted Sister insert previously signed by drummer AJ Pero.

Dave (of www.davesontour.com) had done a short interview with this "reggae/metal" band from Trinidad. The interview got us on the guest list (they were opening for Yngwie Malmsteen) and these guys were just fantastic! Great music and a friendly bunch...come back to Jersey soon!!.

My bud, Dave Iozzia, caught up with "Ripper" at a show at BB Kings in NYC. He was fronting a band called HAIL!, which also included Mike Portnoy on drums, Dave Ellefson on bass and Andreas Kisser on guitar.

Jersey band, Pain Of Days was one of the opening acts at a recent Michael Schenker/George Lynch tour stop. Vocalist Dayna Jade happily signed one of their cards for me.

OK...now how many people can lay claim to having one of THESE babies!!! Just another DHA giveaway.

Hennessy and Vintage Vinyl Records had this "private party" with Graham Parker, Radney Foster, Jeff Black, and Tom Freund all performing acoustic numbers. After the performances were over, you were free to circulate around and meet everybody. Here I had them all sign the invitation card that announced the event.

The great vocalist Davey Pattison was on tour recently with Robin Trower. I was lucky enough to grab Davey and ask him to sign a few things for me. One of the CD's Davey signed was a "rock opera" of Leonardo's The Absolute Man. Davey mentioned that he had never even heard the final so I burned him a copy!!

Stephen was appearing at the Starland Ballroom, on tour with LA Guns and WASP. My pal, Dave Iozzia and I decided to hangout in the parking lot early during soundchecks for the bands. Stephen had just finished his soundcheck when we arrived and caught him while he was taking some grub back to his tour bus. The Nitronic CD was one of Stephen's various solo projects.

I caught Stephen once again as he toured with the Metal Mania Stripped acoustic tour...which included Kip Winger, Don Dokken, Jani Lane and Firehouse. As in the past, Stephen was gracious enough to stop for some signatures and a quick photo.

Another DHA event...Joe was out promoting his recent solo CD, Joe Perry. I got to the DHA parking lot after Joe had already gone inside. There were about 12-15 fans hanging around and they were saying that Joe probably wouldn't sign anything when he comes out...he was a bit "cranky". Cranky? I just found out I was losing my job and not sure how I would pay our bills or feed my family, but Joe may be to "cranky" to sign a piece of cardboard for a fan who has been buying his band's albums for years! I guess room service got his tea too hot again! Anyway, after we waited for about an hour or so, Joe and his entourage quickly exited the DHA studios and jumped into the limo and promptly started to leave. To our amazement...brake lights! Then backup lights!! And Joe's manager graced us with his presence to sign a few things for the fans...from inside the limo, of course...he didn't bother to get out. Wayne and Garth said it best..."we're not worthy"...obviously! Anyway, I got an old solo (vinyl) album signed.

For the past few years, Mike Peters of The Alarm has been on the bill for various MusicFest shows that have taken place locally to my area. This year, the 2-day outdoor music event took place in my hometown and I took advantage of that to catch the Alarm on "the rainy day" of the event. After the show, Mike met with fans and signed and snapped photos with all around.

My good bud, Dave Iozzia caught up with bassist Rickey Phillips at a recent Styx show. Dave asked Rickey if he'd sign these items for me, previously signed by John Waite.

Jeff was the original bass player for the band Dokken. After he left the band, he'd gone on to form his own band, War and Peace, as well as playing with a number of other artists such as Dio. I caught Jeff, along with Mick Jones, Kelly Hansen and Jason Bonham as they arrived at the Count Basie Theater in Redbank, NJ, touring in Foreigner. Meeting Jeff completes my "trilogy" of sorts of meeting 3 of the 5 members of the band Steel Dragon. Steel Dragon is the "band" in the movie Rock Star, starring Mark Wahlberg. In the band, Jeff is the bass player, Jason Bonham is the drummer and Zakk Wylde is the lead guitarist. Thanks too my buddy, Dave Iozzia for getting the autographs on the top row (those in silver)...Dave was at the show and met with the band after.

Part 2 - Dave Iozzia and I caught up with "super-bassist" Jeff Pilson after a recent Foreigner show (which also includes Kelly Hansen on lead vocals, Jason Bonham on drums and Thom Gimbal on guitar and sax). Second time around I had Jeff sign the Dokken discs, Under Lock and Key, Tooth and Nail and Live From The Sun. And Jeff was also nice enough to stop for a photo before the band headed off to Canada!

While waiting at The Starland Ballroom for Lindsey Buckingham, Matt Pinfield of...MTV fame and currently "Soundoff with Matt Pinfield" on HDNet...was hanging around waiting for Lindsey as well for a scheduled interview. I chatted with Matt for a few minutes and I asked for his autograph to add to my site.

While waiting around to catch an autograph from the guys in Mountain (...which never happened! Leslie, Corky...you guys owe me!), I met the guys from Piper's Stone. A "local" band from here in NJ, these guys are straight ahead "Marshall-stack rock". Pete Mikulka on vocals, Bruce Williams and Skip Myre on guitar/bass and Kevin Przybylowski on drums.

Dave Iozzia and I caught up with Metal Church and Savatage drummer Jeff Plate while touring with Mark Wood, who was opening for Steve Vai at a recent Starland show. Jeff graciously signed a couple of Trans-Siberian Orchestra CDs he's drummed on.

Solo CD by former Danger Danger vocalist, Ted Poley. I did not get the chance to meet Ted but ordered his new CD online which he will kindly autograph for you.

On tour recently with Royal Bliss and Buckcherry, I was lucky enough to meet the guys from Pop Evil as well. All the band members, vocalist Leigh Kakaty, guitarists Tony Greve and Dave Grahs, bassist Matt DiRito and drummer Dylan Allison signed my CD. These guys were GREAT to their fans, meeting and greeting after the show!!

UPDATE- Pop Evil hit New Jersey recently while handling an opening slot for Saving Abel. This time around I had the guys in the band sign a promo photo for me.

Mike Portnoy is the incredible drummer for Dream Theater. Mike stopped by a local Sam Ash store for a short "clinic" event...which I had just MISSED!!! Many thanks to the Sam Ash drum tech who handed over one of the few leftover flyers Mike signed before he left the store.

UPDATE- Good pal, Dave Iozzia snagged me some additional Mike Portnoy signatures on a couple of Dream Theater CD inserts when Mike did some drumming duties with HAIL!, which also included Tim "Ripper" Owens on vocals.

Puddle of Mudd recently hit New Jersey for a show at The Starland and got to meet the guys at an aftershow meet and greet. Lead vocalist and founding member, Wes Scantlin, signed everything here and bassist Doug Ardito and drummer Ryan Yerdon also signed the Famous CD insert.

Queensryche did an in-store performance at Vintage Vinyl to promote the release of their new DVD, The Art of Live. Here the whole band was available and were gracious enough to sign anything and everything. And, since I didn't have it when I met him previously, I got Geoff to sign his solo release from a year earlier.

Part 2 - Dave Iozzia caught up with the guys from Queensryche and allowed me to add some more "stuff to the pile"....thanks guys and thanks Dave!!

Quiet Riot (2005 - Kevin Dubrow, Chuck Wright, Alex Grossi, and Frankie Banali)

WDHA was offering one of their many "low-dough" shows (ie: tickets for $1.05 each!) at the Starland Ballroom with Quiet Riot. My friend Dave Iozzia of davesontour.com went all out to treat me to this show! So, here it is, a hot afternoon in August waiting to catch the band at soundcheck. After hanging for about a half hour, Dave comes pulling into the parking lot in his Honda Accord...with 3 members of Quiet Riot inside!! Dave was kind enough to shuttle the guys around to the bank, post office, CVS and Burger King to grab some lunch! Anyway, I got to meet vocalist Kevin DuBrow, drummer Frankie Banali and new guitarist Alex Grossi. I also had the opportunity to chat for a few minutes with bassist Chuck Wright. Chuck has played and written for a number of great bands and artists in his career like the band, House of Lords (shown below). And he also happens to be a graphic artist as well!!

Quiet Riot - Part 2
My buddy Dave caught up with the guys from Quiet Riot about a year after we met them at the Starland show above. Kevin DuBrow and Frankie Banali signed a 45 single picture sleeve and Frankie added his signature to an old side project called Heavy Bones that also included Gary Hoey on guitar.

Red was in the area lately opening up for Saving Abel. I was only abel to grab vocalist Mike Barnes signature here.

For 2009, the guys in REO put together a Christmas album. For a limited time, if you ordered it off their website, you could get a copy autographed by the whole band, so here it is!

I caught up with the guys from Rev Theory as they were heading through NJ opening for Seether. Here, the band, vocalist Rich Luzzi, guitarist Rikki Lixx, bassist Matt McClosky and drummer Dave Agoglia signed my promo photo. Guitarist Julien Jorgensen was not with them due to a hand injury.

Dave caught up with Henry Rollins during his tour with the band X. And, of course, Henry was outside pumping iron when Dave caught up with him and grabbed this great "patriotic" autograph for me..

At a recent Joe Lynn Turner show, one of the opening bands was The Lizards. Drumming for The Lizards is Bobby Rondinelli, formerly of Rainbow and Blue Oyster Cult. It was kinda ironic to have Bobby and Joe "together again" at this venue...and they didn't even do ONE song together! Anyway, I asked Bobby to sign a few things, one of which is a Rainbow disc on which they both appeared.

Dave Iozzia and I caught up with keyboard great, Michael T. Ross, at BB Kings in NYC while he's on tour with Lita Ford. Michael graciously signed my Hardline CD on which he appears.

Thanks to my good bud, Dave Iozzia and the power of www.davesontour.com, I had the opportunity to meet and hang a bit with the guys from Royal Bliss. All the guys, vocalist Neal Middleton, guitarists Taylor Richards and Chris Harding, drummer Jake Smith and bassist Tommy Mortensen were kind enough to sign my CD. Thanks guys!

My bud, Dave Iozzia, caught up with Michael Sadler, lead vocalist of the SAGA, on the band's one and only tour stop in the US recently. Dave spoke with Michael privately in the lobby of his hotel and was able to grab me a set list personalized to me by Michael.

Snagged a signature from Safetysuit frontman, Doug Brown, as the band was one of the openers at a recent Puddle of Mudd show.

Bass player extrodinaire!! My great pal, Dave Iozzia caught up with the former Quiet Riot and Whitesnake bottom man while on tour with Blue Oyster Cult. Here, Rudy signed a classic Whitesnake CD already signed by drummer Tommy Aldridge.

Saving Abel hit New Jersey recently and I was lucky to meet and get the band (Jared Weeks, Jason Null, Scott Bartlett, Eric Taylor and Blake Dixon) to sign the CD and a promo photo.

Update- Met up with guitarist Jason Null, bassist Eric Taylor and drummer Blake Dixon while they appeared at WDHA's 2010 Rock The Park. Got them to sign the new CD, Miss America.

Another nod of thanks to my pal Dave Iozzia for grabbing Joe's signature for me! Joe and Eric Johnson stopped by The Starland Ballroom on their recent tour...Dave caught the (what I heard was a GREAT) show and got to go backstage after. Eric and his band had already hit the road, but fortunately Joe hung around for a bit.

Dave I caught up with former Fuel vocalist, Brett Scallions, while handling vocal duties for Riders On The Storm. Brett graciously signed EVERYTHING Dave passed in front of him! Thanks, Brett!}

Dave Iozzia caught up with guitarist Richie Scarlet and bassist Larry The Indian Fisher at a show at BB Kings featuring Corky Laing from mountain and Stewkey from The Nazz. Here Richie and Larry signed my Sebastian Bach CD that they played on, already signed by Bach.

I'm not sure of the authenticity of this, but I came across it in a used CD bin at the Princeton Record Exchange for $3.99. I figure, who's gonna "fake" Michael Schenker's signature??

My friend Dave Iozzia made a trip down to the Austin Rock Festival, featuring the Scorpions, UFO and Tesla to name a few bands. While Dave was doing his interview thing with Klaus and the boys, he was nice enough to get have them sign some goods for me.

Update - Once again, good ol' Dave Iozzia caught up with Klaus and the gang while doing double-duty covering (drummer James) Kottak AND The Scorpions in NYC on the same night!! Here they signed their new CD, Humanity

Many thanks to Jim Mundt from Wisconsin (who stumbled onto my site!!) for supplying me this setlist signed by the members of Sevendust (by the way, the "Brandon" mentioned here is Jim's young son).

Billy was touring in Steve Vai's band. My buddy Dave Iozzia was hanging out waiting for the band, he was able to meet with Billy and grab some autographs! Being a huge Mr. Big fan, I'm really disappointed that I missed this opportunity in person, but Dave said Billy had a tale to tell for each CD booklet he signed! Thanks, Dave!

About a week or so before the release of Shinedown's debut CD, they did a live performance at...brace yourself...Pop's Barbecue in Madison, NJ!! (And yes, this was another DHA event hosted by Terri Carr.) They did 2 or 3 acoustic numbers and signed some promo photos for the folks there.

Eric Singer was the featured guest at the 2005 KISS Expo. Eric has played drums for many a great metal band, including Black Sabbath, Badlands, ESP and now back with KISS. I had him sign the KISS Revenge CD booklet to our daughter, Annie.

Update - My bud, Dave Iozzia caught up with Eric while on tour drumming for Alice Cooper and had him sign my copy of KISS unplugged.

My pal, Dave Iozzia caught up with the guys from Skid Row recently. They were out touring in support of their new release Revolutions Per Minute and Dave was able to grab some signatures for me. The latest line up includes Dave "The Snake" Sabo, Rachael Bolan, Scotti Hill, Dave Gara and "new" vocalist, Johnny Solinger. Two of these inserts were signed by original vocalist Sebastian Bach.

Slaughter and Skid Row hit The Starland recently and my pal Dave Iozzia caught up with a few of the guys before the show during soundcheck. Unfortunately Mark Slaughter doesn't do soundchecks, so he was unavailable. But Dave did manage to snag Dana Strum and "new" guitarist Jeff Blando for me.

British guitarist Stuart Smith put togther this great "classic rock sounding" band/CD called Heaven and Earth, which I stumbled across a while back. The CD is a fantastic "who's who" of classic rock, with Joe Lynn Turner, Kelly Hansen, Richie Sambora, Carmine Appice, etc, etc. This is a recently released DVD of the "making of..." the CD and the first 300 or so sold came with Smith's autograph!

This is a classic story of I know somebody who knows sombody who knows Bruce. My friend Matt McCarthy knows someone who works at a place that Bruce stops in quite often and that it would be no problem getting Bruce to sign a few things. Sooooo, here are those few things...of most interest here is the French versions of the 18 Tracks sampler. It has a hardcover, booklet style with a preface in French (of course!). I picked it up a number of years ago while Donna and I were in Paris, so it's a great item to have with Bruce's signature on it!

And by the way...a number of years ago Donna and I were driving around the Rumson (NJ) area looking for a place to eat. As we were driving around, I made the comment to "be on the look out cuz we're in Springsteen/Bon Jovi territory." We had stopped at a traffic light with an ice cream shop called Scoops on the corner. I pointed out that I know the guy who did the store logo. We continued to drive around looking for some restaurant to no avail...so we turned around to go back. Once again we're at the traffic light by Scoops. Then Donna points out "that guy kinda looks like Springsteen." And he did look like Bruce...ALOT like Bruce! So I pulled over, got out, got the nerve to walk over and say: "Excuse me...are you Bruce? ...Springsteen?" He nodded and said "yea" real low and then I do the stupid "uhhh, it's great to meet you...I've always been a big fan" thing. That was it. He was there in jeans and a white t-shirt having a cone with his daughter...it was pretty cool!

The guys from Staind were in Jersey for a show at the Meadowlands along with 3 Doors Down. A few hours before the show, the band was doing an in-store appearance at the Best Buy store across the highway. All four band members were there...you needed to purchase a pre-release single that entitles you to the full CD when it comes out at a later date...but they would sign pretty much anything you had. They were intrigued by my copy of 14 Shades of Grey, which is a Russian bootleg that I picked up when we had traveled to Bulgaria.

ROCK is BACK America and Steel Panther is leading the charge! If you missed the 80's for whatever the reason, now is your chance to relive the dream. The guys from Steel Panther, vocalist Mike Starr, guitarist Satchel, bassist Lexxi Foxxx and drummer Stix Zadinia did an in-store appearance at Vintage Vinyl Records here in NJ along with a short acoustic performance. After the set the met with fans for photos and autographs. Much fun was had by all!

Old bud, Dave Iozzia caught up with lead vocalist of The Nazz, Stewkey, while the band was appearing at BB Kings in NYC.

Opening recently for Flogging Molly (the band fronted by former Fastway vocalist, Dave King) the band Street Dogs stopped at The Starland Ballroom. Good ol' Dave Iozzia snagged lead vocalist Mike McColgan for me.

Once again...another nod of thanks to my pal Dave!! While doing a Summer tour with Foreigner, Dave got the chance to hook up with a few members of Styx...founding members Tommy Shaw, James "JY" Young and bassist, Ricky Phillips.

Update - Again Dave I catches up with Styx when they hit NJ once again. This time Tommy Shaw and JY were nowhere to be found, but he did manage to get the other guys to sign a DVD insert.

I've been a fan of John Sykes since the first Blue Murder CD. When he was touring with Thin Lizzy they did a show at the old Birch Hill nightclub in Jersey. After the show, fans got to wait (for quite some time) outside the tour bus for John to come out and go down the line signing stuff. He actually signed 2 items for me, but because he stopped and talked to the fan in front of me, the Sharpie marker dried up a bit and all I got was the impression of his autograph on that piece! You owe me, Sykes!!

My buddy Dave Iozzia and I attended WDHA's Rock The Park 2005, featuring local band, Queen V (which we were sorry that we missed), Sebastian Bach, 38 Special and Twisted Sister. Just before 38 Special hit the stage, keyboardist Bobby Capps came over and gave me quick autograph (along the left edge). Thanks to Dave's gift of "persuasion", we were able to sneak "backstage" after 38 Special's set...which gave me the opportunity to meet guitarist Danny Chauncey and tell him that I had been a fan since his early 80's band, Billy Satellite. (Danny's autograph is on the lower right.) Also while backstage, I was able to grab bassist Larry Junstrom's autograph (just above Danny's). But probably the most interesting autograph is that of Maria Bach, Sebastian Bach's wife. It just so happens that Maria is the woman on the cover of this particular 38 Special CD! I think she was flattered that I had asked her!!

Met the (extremely nice) guys from Taddy Porter (Andy Brewer - vocals, Joe Selby - guitar, Kevin Jones - bass and Doug Jones - drums) when they stopped here in NJ while doing an opening slot for Saving Abel.

DHA, again. Geoff was promoting the release of his upcoming solo CD. Since it wasn't out yet, I had him sign some Queensryche stuff.

These guys are GREAT!! Please, check them out if they're in your area. It was a pleasure to meet vocalist Calvin Muma, guitarists Josh Perry and Kris Tonnessen, bassist Nick Sundesten and drummer Kelly Murphy...all from Seattle. They were one of the openers at a recent Puddle of Mudd show and I hope they do well in the future...good luck guys!!

While interviewing the guys at a recent Starland Ballroom show, my friend Dave was able to grab autographs from Troy Luccketta, Frank Hannon and Brian Wheat. He felt bad that he missed getting Jeff Keith and Tommy Skeoch's autographs, but I said hey, don't worry...I already got THOSE at the Bar 7 thing!

The guys from Theory of a Deadman were on tour and recently played at The Stone Pony. In between shuttling the guys to Starbucks and Rite Aid, my buddy Dave I. pulls thru with signatures from vocalist Tyler Connolly, bassist Dean Back and guitarist David Brenner.

Update- I caught up with Theory while recently opening for finger eleven and had them sign their latest CD, Scars and Souvenirs. These guys are GREAT!! Do yourself a favor and get out there and BUY these CDs!!!

I caught up with George just as he was exiting a walk-through before his show at Montclair NJ's Wellmont Theater.

The graet 90's band, Tonic have reformed and played recently at MusicFest 2009, a 2-day outdoor music event that took place here in my hometown. Here, Laurenceville, NJ native, guitarist Jeff Russo signed my CDs.

Peter (and radio DJ Jim Monaghan) did a few acoustic numbers at Vintage Vinyl. Although exhausted by the time Donna and I finally got up to him, Peter was still gracious enough to sign (the only thing I could think of at the time) my dollar bill and take a quick snapshot with Donna!

Former lead singer of White Lion...Mike stopped by Scotti's Records in Morristown for the WDHA Tour Bus CD release. Another one of those situations where there were only a handful of fans around!

Another pre-signed deal...for a limited time (and I think for a few extra $$$) when you bought this release of two Pat's earlier albums on one disc, you would get an autographed slipcase.

As much as all these autographs on this site are special to me, I feel that one in particular most special. That would be Robin Trower's signature on the black and white photo below. I took that picture of Robin in concert at Radio City in NYC in October 1977 while touring in support of the In City Dreams album. Almost 30 years later I was lucky enough to have Robin sign my photo for me...as well as a handful of other items. Thanks, Robin!

WDHA started broadcasting The Tour Bus (with Ralph Sutton and Matt Murray) on Saturday nights. They play the best of 80's metal. Every once and a while, artists would stop in and perform some acoustic tunes. Well, Ralph and Matt took a bunch of those tunes and released a CD. The guys held a "CD release party" at Scotti's Records in Morristown, NJ and Mike Tramp (of White Lion) was there too, so we have Ralph, Matt and Mike's signatures here.

Ahh, the great Joe Lynn Turner... I first met Joe at (of course) the WDHA studios during an anniversary party for the Big Greasy Breakfast morning show with Rob Moorehead. I have been a fan of Joe's voice since the Rainbow days. About a year later, my former art school (The duCret School of Art in Plainfield, NJ) was putting together a fund raiser, and I contacted Joe's managment (the great Lisa Walker!!) about possibly getting Joe to donate some autographed stuff for our event. You can read about THAT at my Glenn Hughes stuff. So then a bit of a friendship of sorts started between myself and Joe's "camp". Jump ahead to about a year later when Donna and I are in Bulgaria to pick up our daughter, Annie. While in the capital of Bulgaria, Sofia, I see all these posters for a concert by a band called Brazen Abbot...with Joe doing vocal duties! And it just so happens that the last show is the night before we leave! So, the airport in Bulgaria ain't that big and we run into Joe, I reintroduce myself, tell him why we're in Bulgaria and get some pics with Donna and Annie. Jump ahead to the 2005 KISS Expo...Joe is a featured guest. Lisa Walker guestlists us into the show, we hook up with Joe, get some updated pics of the gang and signs all my crap! What makes the Brazen Abbot DVD so special is that it is the tour that took place the same week Donna and I were in Bulgaria to finally bring Annie home with us! Thanks, Joe...YOU ROCK!

Joe Lynn Turner - Part ???
Joe had been touring most of 2005 following the release of The Usual Suspects CD. Donna and I finally caught the tour at the Starland Ballroom...having not seen Joe perform since the early 80's!!! Even tho he had a bit of a cold, he sounded great (as always!!) and we got to meet up with him (and guitarist Karl Cochran) after the show, where they signed the setlist for the night's performance. Said it before...Joe...YOU ROCK!

JLT - even MORE...
Joe and Karl Cochran were making the rounds promoting Joe's new CD "Second Hand Life". One of the stops was at Jersey's WDHA studios (where I was lucky enough to get to hang out at). During the interview segment Joe and Karl performed 2 acoustic numbers...always so COOL!

TV Toy is a band outta New Jersey. Dave I had drummer Steve Peer sign a copy of their CD for me.

WDHA's Rock The Park 2005 headliner, Twisted Sister performed their last ever appearance together at this event. During the course of the day, Guitarist Eddie Ojeda wandered over to talk with someone. Naturally it was my "duty" to interupt and ask for a quick autograph!

Part 2 - Ever the great guy, my buddy Dave Iozzia of davesontour.com went above and beyond to help out my cousin's cousin's son (follow that?) who, at 14, underwent a recent double knee operation! Aside from a bunch of get well e-mail wishes and free swag, AJ Pero, drummer of Twisted Sister made the offer of stopping by to see the kid IN-PERSON! Thanks AJ! While there, AJ was nice enough to sign anything that anybody had.

Part 4 - The original line up of Twisted Sister got together at Vintage Vinyl to promote their new Christmas CD release!! I had the chance to catch up with AJ Pero again and meet all the guys.

UFO...one of my favorite, FAVORITE bands of all time. UFO and Blue Oyster Cult were doing a tour stop at the Starland Ballroom in Sayerville. I couldn't make the show, so I decided to hang out in the parking lot during the afternoon in hopes of meeting ANYBODY if they came around for soundcheck. I waited a few hours...(met my friend Dave Iozzia for the first time)...and no luck. Dave caught up with the band a bit later and was kind enough to get me this copy of their set list with singer Phil Mogg's and guitarist Vinnie Moore's autograph!! Thanks, Dave!

Part 1- This was true heaven for me!! After being a diehard UFO fan for (YIKES!) 30 YEARS I finally had the opportunity to meet the band face-to-face! I spoke with and shook hands with the GREAT, GREAT Phil Mogg. Also met up with original drummer Andy Parker and guitarist/keyboardist Paul Raymond. Guitarist Vinnie Moore was there too, but unfortunately no Pete Way due to "visa issues" coming into the U.S. - bummer!

Part 2 - I was lucky enough to grab Phil outside The Starland on yet another tour through the states and NJ. Here Phil signed my promo copy of their new CD, The Visitor. Great show!!

Thanks again to my pal, Dave Iozzia!! Steve did a tour stop at the Starland Ballroom in Sayerville, NJ and Dave hung out early in the day to meet and grab some signatures from the guitar-great!

The always cheerful guys from North Carolina in Valient Thorr happily signed a promo photo of the band for me. Thanks to my pal Dave Iozzia for scoring this one.

DHA yet again...this time during a Big Greasy Breakfast Diner Tour. Why John Waite would be stopping by a diner in Branchburg, NJ at 7:30 in the morning to do some acoustic songs is beyond me, but I was there...got some autographed stuff...and a picture to prove it!

Jersey's own Joe Walsh came back home recently while on a solo tour, hitting the Starland Ballroom. Myself and few other folks hung out hoping to snag Joe and get him to sign a few items (which his management said he'd definitely do). When Joe finally arrived he went right into the venue. As we were anxiously awaiting his appearance, someone with one of the bands offered to take our stuff inside for Joe to sign...it seemed like a safe bet! After 15-20 minutes it was like "hmmm, wonder where our stuff is?"...after an hour it was like "HEY!" Every once in a while we would be assured our stuff "had gone up to Joe". Finally after about 2 hours our stuff arrived...my original The Smoker You Drink The Player You Get LP and my Eagles' Hell Freezez Over CD insert...whew!

WASP was headlining a show at the Starland Ballroom along with LA Guns and Stephen Pearcy. It was a hot and muggy day in July 2005 while my buddy, Dave Iozzia and I hung out in the parking lot during soundchecks. I was fortunate to get autographs from the whole touring band...Stet Howland (drums), Mike Duda (bass), Darrell Roberts (guitar) and, apparently the most coveted...Blackie Lawless!! Blackie, vocalist and founder of WASP has a reputation for being, mmmm, difficult at times. Thanks to a tip, we snagged Blackie outside his tour bus in gym shorts and a T-shirt...tall dude!

Former Jason Bonham Band vocalist Chas West was currently touring with the Hollywood Allstars. The Allstars includes Vinny Appice on drums, Jimmy Bain on bass, Charlie on vocals, Carlos Cavazo on guitar and Krigger on a second set of skins!!. Charlie was a great guy to chat with (as were the rest of the band!!) and I had him add his signature to some discs previously signed by Jason Bonham.

My bud Dave Iozzia and Alice Cooper at the Bergen PAC in NJ...and who else is at the show in the audience?? Non other than legendary drummer Carmine Appice and legendary guitarist, etc. of Mountain, Leslie West!! Dave knew I already had Carmine's signature so he snagged me Leslie West's on the back of his Alice Cooper concert ticket!

And again, my buddy, Dave Iozzia caught up with the great Damon Johnson while out touring with his new project, Whiskey Falls. Here's a promo photo signed by Damon and the other band members...Buck Johnson, Wally Brandt and Seven Williams.

Dave Iozzia once again does the amazing while hooking up with the band Winger while at a stop at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ. Dave said it was a packed house and a great set by the band touring in support of their new release, Winger IV. The first two CDs below were previously signed by guitarist Reb Beach.

Update- I caught up with Kip at a recent Chiller Convention and snagged a few more autographs on some items...

Again at DHA...Zakk and a fellow bandmate stopped by the studio to talk about his new release, The Blessed Hellride. One of the interesting things I noticed in Zakk's stuff was that he dates all the autographs...in this case, 5/7/03.

John Young has played with the Scorpions, Asia, John Wetton and Uli Jon Roth to name a few. My pal, Dave Iozzia, has known John for a while and recently attended a performance of John's solo project The John Young Band, where he kindly picked up the CD for me.

Rob Zombie

Another in-store thing at Vintage Vinyl. No performances, just a long line to say high and get an autograph. Contrary to appearances, Rob comes across as very polite and soft-spoken...nice dude.
