CAUTION!!

There are ALOT of images to load here!! Please be patient!! If you are stuck with a dial-up connection, then by all means, go get some coffee. And I don't mean run to the kitchen and come back. Drive to the store, pick out a brand of coffee you like, get home, open the can, put the scoops in the coffee maker, add water, turn it on and sit back. When it's done, pour yourself a hot cup of "joe"...cream and sugar if you like, take a sip and head back to the computer. Hopefully by then, all the images will have loaded! Enjoy!

ALSO...now that I've spread these over 2 pages you may not land exactly where you want to when you jump to page 2. This is due to the large number of images loading and that I'm too lazy to set them up to preload!

Hey and welcome to my autographs page! Overall, it's a bit "pointless" but I guess I just want to show off a bit and display the over 100 rock and roll autographs I've been fortunate enough to acquire over the past years. Before I go any further, I need to mention that I owe a great, great deal of thanks to a few people. First, my wonderful friend Dave Iozzia of davesontour.com for graciously hooking me up with so much great stuff! Check out his site!! Many thanks, Dave...YOU ROCK! The folks at the Starland Ballroom for being kind and not chasing us away in the parking lot. Vintage Vinyl Records in Fords, NJ...thanks to their many in-store appearances of so many great bands. Also, the folks at WDHA-FM for their outstanding friendship and courtesy...allowing me to just "hang out" whenever they had some in-studio guests coming by. Many of the DJs have since moved on...Rob Moorehead, Matt Murray. Curtis Kay continues to be the ultimate DJ personality at DHA and thankfully, Terrie Carr has returned!! Thank you all so much for letting me share in the moments to meet these artists!

Of course, thanks to the many artists here below who were courteous and patient enough to sign whatever crap I stuck in front of them. This past year, 2009, was fantastic! I had a number of outstanding opportunities to meet bands like Halestorm, Pop Evil, Saving Abel, Royal Bliss, CAVO, etc. and, the best moment ever, having lunch with Chickenfoot (thanks to WDHA)! For the most part, everybody was very cool about throwing down a signature for me. And for those very few of you who were a little grumpy about it...HEY! It's great to be a fan of music and then have the opportunity to meet the artist(s) face-to-face and say thanks for some great tunes.

I hope whoever of you that view this site get a kick out of seeing it as much as I enjoyed getting the autographs to post! These ain't for sale, I just like getting 'em...unless there's one that somebody wants to pay me a couple of thousand $$$ for, well...maybe we should talk! And, if by some chance you are a famous rock and roller who stumbled by this page and would like to add to my collection or just wanna chat about this stuff... E-MAIL ME!! at pldesigns@comcast.net (PS- Put something like "Phil's R&R Autographs" or something like that in the subject line so I don't think it's junk e-mail and delete ya!!) Enjoy! Later....

Please Note: I have these autographs split over 2 pages. In some cases, when you click on a link to those names listed M through Z, the images may not load fast enough to drop you at the correct spot. Therefore, you may need to scroll up or down a bit!

Age of Evil

These four guys from Arizona ROCK and they recently opened for HAIL! at BB Kings in NYC. Thanks to my great friend, Dave Iozzia, who interviewed these guys for www.davesontour.com, they agreed to sign their promo CD for me! Signed by Jeremy Goldberg (vocals), Jordan Ziff (guitar), Jacob Goldberg (bass) and Garrett Ziff (drums).

Doug Aldrich

Me and my pal Dave Iozzia (of davesontour.com) caught up with guitarist Doug Aldrich (along with drummer Tommy Aldridge and guitarist Reb Beach) on a hot afternoon in July during soundcheck for Whitesnake. Doug is a great player who's appeared on many a great rock album and numerous tribute CDs (like the Queen tribute disc shown below...cover design by Chuck Wright).

Tommy Aldridge

Tommy has drummed for just about everybody...Black Oak Arkansas, Pat Travers, Ozzy, Whitesnake, Ted Nugent, Thin Lizzy and so on... So, one morning I'm taking a business trip and waiting for a flight out of Newark Airport. My friend Joe Trezpla and I are grabbing a cup of coffee at one of the snack bars before the flight. As we're sitting there by the window, this tall, skinny guy with a big blond "afro" goes strolling down the terminal!! I knew (by the hair!) exactly who that was, so I grab my coffee and head down to the waiting area. I grab Tommy (who's on his way back home after recording with Ted Nugent) and get a quick autograph. My apologies to bass player, Marco Mendoza who was travelling along with Tommy and who I totally ignored. It WAS very early in the AM!

Tommy Aldridge - Part 2
Another hot July day in the parking lot of the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ. Whitesnake is on tour and my pal Dave Iozzia and I sweat it out again waiting to meet the guys in the band. This time the lineup includes Reb Beach on guitar, Doug Aldrich on guitar and Tommy on drums. We grab the guys as they arrive for soundcheck and are told David Coverdale does not do soundchecks...so it's a no-show from David.

Framed autograph with photos.

Alice In Chains (kinda)

Another nod to my pal Dave on this one...and risking his life to get it!! Well, not exactly. It seems the "reformed" Alice In Chains find themselves on a bit of a pedestal these days. It was the first (and maybe not the last) time that Dave was PHYSICALLY escorted to his car while hanging in the parking lot of the Starland Ballroom during soundcheck hours!!! Before being "shown the exit", Dave was able to snag original AIC drummer Sean Kinney on these pieces. YEESH!

Alterbridge

Alterbridge, made up of 3 former members of Creed along with Myles Kennedy on vocals, was hitting the Starland Ballroom with Another Animal. I was only able to hook up with bassist Brian Marshall and drummer Scott Phillips, who signed my Alterbridge CD as well as 2 Creed discs, before I had to head off.

Angel (2004)

Since Angel was formed back in the 70's, I felt I needed to include the 2004 date above. My friend, Dave Iozzia of davesontour.com picked this up for me during one of his interview tours.

The setlist, signed by the whole band, circa 2004.

Another Animal

THIS is a GREAT CD!! Find it and BUY IT! I am personally told (by one of the guys in the band) that this is NOT a one-time-only project. Another Animal is made up of former and current members of Godsmack (Tony Rombola, Lee Richards, Shannon Larkin and Robbie Merrill) along with great vocals by former Ugly Kid Joe frontman Whitfield Crane. The guys were fantastic to meet and chat with..they all signed the AA disc and Robbie, Tony and Shannon signed a couple of Godsmack discs for me. Thanks guys!!

Anthrax

The original lineup for Anthrax has gotten back together and were doing a show/DVD shoot at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville. My pal Dave Iozzia of www.davesontour.com and I hung out for a while, hoping to grab the guys as they showed up for soundcheck. Bassist Danny Spitz showed up first, had his hands full on they way in and promised to come back out to do a signing (didn't happen). Drummer Charlie Benate (signed in blue) showed up next and at first passed on signing, but then came back out. The rest of the band showed up about an hour later...Joey Belladonna and Frank Bello signed next. I missed out on Scott Ian as he slipped in while I had Joe's attention.

Carmine Appice

This is probably my first rock and roll autograph. Loria Music in Rahway, NJ was holding a "drum clinic" with Carmine as their guest. John Syke's Blue Murder had just released their first CD. I somehow had a promo copy CD single of the song Valley of the Kings (my favorite Blue Murder tune!!) which I brought with me to the clinic. Carmine signed this and a poster, which is long gone.

Vinny Appice and Jimmy Bain

The powerhouse rhythm section of many great metal bands of the 80's...Dio, Black Sabbath, WWIII...were now on tour as the Hollywood Allstars. The Allstars includes Vinny on drums, Jimmy on bass, Charlie West on vocals, Carlos Cavazo on guitar and Krigger on a second set of skins!!. My pal Dave Iozzia, his cousin Rocco and I hung out outside Double D's in Morristown, NJ before the show. The guys all arrived together and I have to say...the NICEST bunch of guys ever! Sorry I couldn't make the show, but I'm looking forward to a future recording by THIS line-up!

ASIA

THE supergroup of the 80's, ASIA reformed with all the original members recently and hit the road with one of those stops being here in NJ. Once again my buddy Dave Iozzia was on the job at the Count Basie Theater in Redbank, NJ. Unfortunately members John Wetton and Steve Howe were a bit difficult to "get at" and were only able to sign the vintage photo below. Carl Palmer and Geoff Downes were more than happy to sign whatever crap Dave passed in front of their faces. Thanks guys!

Update- Dave caught up with the ASIA guys once again as they came thru our area and supplemented some items shown below.

Dan Aykroyd

Dan Aykroyd was making the promotional rounds for a new vodka he is involved in producing. One of those stops was at a liquor store in Elizabeth, NJ. One of the great things about this "meet and greet" was that Dan would sign 3 items and you did NOT have to purchase the vodka (or his wine) if you didn't want to. A very classy move for Dan and his staff...thanks!

Sebastian Bach

An outstanding WDHA "happening"...the station had run a promo on their website to enter a drawing for "Absolutely Live...in the studio with Sebastian Bach". I showed up to just hangout outside the studio in hopes of grabbing a quick autograph and photo, when DJ Terri Carr pops her head out to inform me that one of the winners cancelled and would I like to hangout inside? (The answer here is obvious!!) Sebastian Bach...former Skid Row vocalist, solo artist, Broadway actor (Jekyll & Hyde, etc) and TV star (Gilmore Girls)...was animated and happy to see everybody. He signed autographs, stood for photos and fielded questions from the listeners all while his 11 year old son, London, videoed everything! Great guy! Thanks, Terri!!

Bad Company

During the Merchants of Cool Tour, Bad Company stopped by the WDHA studios one evening. Founding members Paul Rodgers and Simon Kirke were kind enough to sign a few things for me. It was a great evening...there were just a few fans hanging the DHA studios, so Terrie Carr was nice enough to invite us in for some eats and to hear (and see!) the band perform a few acoustic numbers on air. Paul and Simon were wonderful to all the fans.

Bar 7

After the breakup of Tesla, some of the band members formed other bands. Bar 7 was a new band formed by vocalist Jeff Keith and guitarist Tommy Skeoch. To promote the release of the Bar 7 album, the band was to perform in-store at Vintage Vinyl. Unfortunately for the band (but fortunately for me!)...NOBODY showed up! I was the only fan at the store!! I had picked up the Bar 7 disc and had brought some Tesla inserts with me as well. Jeff and Tommy were very gracious to sign and chat (as were the other members of Bar 7) and invited me to the show that evening (which I had to pass on!)...thanks, guys!

Reb Beach

Whitesnake and it's long roster of great guitarists...John Sykes, Adrian Vandenberg, Steve Vai to name just a few...has now added the great Reb Beach to the list! My pal, Dave Iozzia and I caught up with Reb, guitarist Doug Aldrich and drummer Tommy Aldridge as they arrived for a soundcheck at the Starland Ballroom on the latest Whitesnake tour. Prior to joining up with Whitesnake, Reb has handles six-string duties for Winger and a couple of Dokken albums.

These four young dudes from Kentucky were on tour with Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society. My pal Dave Iozzia hooked up with them outside the Starland Ballroom and he said they were GREAT! Sorry I missed the show but hopefully we'll catch 'em next time around. Thanks guys!!

Jason Bonham/Healing Sixes

Healing Sixes was Jason Bonham's new band. He and the rest of the group were out promoting their new CD, with a stop at WDHA. Matt Murray was nice enough to allow me into the studio during the on-air chat! I "bummed" a free copy of their new disc, which everyone signed. I had also brought along a drum head for Jason to sign as well.

Part 2 - Dave Iozzia and I caught up with Jason after a recent Foreigner show in Morristown, NJ. Jason is now part of the newly reformed Foreigner, which also includes Kelly Hansen on lead vocals, Jeff Pilson on bass and Thom Gimbal on guitar.

The rest of the band, guitarists Keith Nelson and Stevie D., bassist Jimmy Ashhurst and drummer Xavier Muriel signed the insert for their latest CD, 15, in black. Many thanks!!

Jon Butcher

I've been a fan of Jon Butcher since day one with The Jon Butcher Axis. During the Wishes Tour, I was lucky enough to get Jon's autograph as he returned to the club from dinner. Many years later, I picked up an early release copy of Jon's latest disc... which came with a pick and an autographed tray insert.

UPDATE- I have been a fan of Jon's since day one. I was lucky enough to meet him once back in the mid-80's and it scored me an autograph and a chance to say "hi!" Fast-forward to July 2010 and the first annual "Weekend of 100 Rock Stars" Con here in NJ. I originally blew it off because I wasn't overly impressed with the lineup of guests...until I saw that Jon was going to be there!!! Admittedly, a bit over-the-top, but I had Jon sign EVERYTHING and I had the fantastic pleasure of talking with him (and Charlie Farren) for a few minutes. Thanks, Jon and PLEASE come to Jersey more often!!!

Chickenfoot

BEST THING EVER!! Many thanks to the folks at WDHA-FM, especially Curtis Kay and sales exec, Valerie Freda. WDHA ran the "Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner" promotion where one person would be picked to have lunch with the band at The Hard Rock Cafe in NYC and then tix to the show that night (and also an overnight hotel stay in NYC as well). Well, I won it and it was better than expected!! For about 2 hours, my wife Donna, myself and a small number of other winners from the tri-state area got to rub shoulders, chat, drink and munch with Sammy Hagar, Joe Satriani, Michael Anthony and Chad Smith. As you can see, they were more than generous with their time and signatures. It was great to finally meet Sammy after being a huge fan for years and he added his signature to some pieces signed last year by The Waboritos. While standing there to take a picture for Valerie, Sammy decided to sign my T-shirt which resluted in me asking the rest of the band to do so as well. Great, great time and a fantastic show later that night!!

Guitarist Karl Cochran had a table at the 2005 KISS Expo. I had been meaning to pick up his solo disc, Voodooland, for sometime since it had vocals by John Corabi and Joe Lynn Turner. Karl was selling copies of the disc at his table and we had him sign it to our daughter, Annie. Had I been a bit more on the ball, I would have had him sign the ESP booklet along with Eric Singer.

Alice Cooper

Great snag by my good pal, Dave Iozzia! Dave just happened to show up at the Bergen PAC at the right time when the always elusive Mr. Cooper was exiting the venue after just taping a VH1 "thing". Dave asked Alice if he would be kind enough to oblige with a quick autograph. Alice signed, Dave wished him luck on the show that evening to which Mr. Cooper replied that he didn't need luck for the show that night but instead could use some luck for his golf game the next day!

OK, so your wondering..."what the hell does Kevin Costner have to do with ROCK AND ROLL autographs????" Well, I was one of a lucky few who caught up with Kevin (we're on a first name basis, ya know) after his SOUNDCHECK at the Starland Ballroom. Kevin's BAND...Kevin Costner and Modern West...were making one of their tour stops there recently. Look for and buy the CD...it sounds great!!.

David Coverdale

David stopped by WDHA while promoting his solo releases, Into The Light. I was thinking, "man, Coverdale is a LEGEND! I hope he's not all stuck up and stuff...". Well, Dave (and I believe his manager) showed up about an hour late...here comes this Crown Victoria into the DHA lot and out gets David from the front passeneger seat. Since I'm the only person standing outside, he apologizes to ME for being late!!! "No problem" I said, and he graciously signed everything I had and stopped for some pictures BEFORE going onto the studio! What a great...legendary...gentleman!

Marshall Crenshaw

I finally had the opportunity to catch up with the great Marshall Crenshaw just before he performed an acoustic show at church in Woodbridge, NJ. Marshall was very friendly and kind enough to sign my stuff here (and I did get the opp to tell him my favorite Crenshaw song: "You're My Favorite Waste Of Time"...so cool).

Russell Crowe / Thirty Odd Foot Of Grunts

Crowe's band was touring around in support of their new CD. The band made a stop at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park. I wish I could say that I met the band and they all signed the DVD...the truth is, at the souvenir table where you buy T-shirts, you could buy the DVD with or without the autographs...KA-CHING! I'm a bit embarassed to say for how much! (I am 99% certain that I was standing next to and spoke with...at that time...Crowe's girlfriend, who is now Mrs. Crowe!)

Cry Of Love

Cry of Love was one of those "blues-rock" styled bands formed in the mid 90's. They only released 2 CDs, each one with a different vocalist. WDHA was holding a charity auction at Compact Disc World in the Menlo Park, NJ store. A majority of the items up for bid were stuff signed by rock artists. Alot of the items were a bit beyond my financial means at the time, but I was able to bid on and win this Fender guitar autographed by the band.

The Cult (kinda)...

No, not Ian Astbury, not Billy Duffy...it's 2006 Cult touring drummer, John Tempesta. The real story here is that my great pal, Dave Iozzia suffered scrapes and bruises and shed BLOOD to get this setlist!! Well, actually, no...the setlist came easy...it was Dave leaping over a fence around the soundboard to grab the tamborine Ian Astbury tossed in the audience that caused all the physical damage...but he GOT the tamborine!!

Cy Curnin (of The Fixx)

Former lead singer of 80's band The Fixx, Cy Curnin, was the opening act at MusicFest 09. MusicFest is a free, open air music festival featuring a number of bands over 2 days now here in my hometown of Clark, NJ. Cy and guitarist Nick Harper opened the festivities with a great acoustic set of classic Fixx tunes and solo songs. After the set I was able to grab Cy for some signatures and a quick photo.

Ironically, not there signing specifically, but he's currently involved in The Wild Life Animal Conservation Center in Ridgefield Park, NJ (www.njbatman.com) and they had a live bat display at the con. The display itself was very cool and informative (my daughter LOVED it!!) and Joey himself was very personable and friendly! Thanks!!

Danger Danger

This, I believe, is my first of what would become many, MANY, WDHA "events"...listeners called in to win tickets to the Danger Danger show that evening at a club in northern NJ. From that list of winners, the station pulled 3 people as grand prize winners to have dinner with and meet the band before the show. All I had was a piece of paper that I had the guys in the band sign...on BOTH SIDES!

Def Leppard

Def Leppard was in Jersey to promote the release of their new album, "X". The CD was being released that day and the band stopped by WDHA on their way to a Wal-Mart store in Saddlebrook for an in-store signing!!! Since the band was running extremely late, there was no time for any autographs...they zoomed into the studio and zoomed out. They only stopped for ONE photograph of the entire group of us waiting outside...which their tour manager said "everybody will get a copy"...yea, right! Hey!! Anybody have a copy of that photo?? This was one of the rare times with no autographs...but I did shake hands with drummer Rick Allen.

Again, kudos to my pal Dave Iozzia for grabbing this for me! At a recent Johnny and Edgar Winter show, guitar legend Rick Derringer was also on the bill. Pat Dinizio of The Smithereens / The Smithereens

Pat was doing a small tour of bookstores and was making a stop at Borders Books in Princeton, NJ. My buddy Rob Sims and I decided to sit in for what was a great evening of acoustic renditions of Smithereens songs...along with the classic Smithereens' Dairy Queen commercial song!! Since I saw other people doing it, I grabbed on of the posters of the wall and had Pat sign it.

Part 2 - The Smithereens were part of the lineup of MusicFest '05, a free(!) outdoor concert at Echo Lake Park in Mountainside, NJ. Also on the bill was headliner Joan Jett, They Might Be Giants and Joe Bonamassa among others. I was able to grab signatures from the 3 original members, vocalist Pat DiNizio, drummer Dennis Diken and guitarist Jim Babjak.

Part 2
My old pal Dave Iozzia caught up with the Smithereens doing a show at BB King's in NYC. Pat, Dennis and Jim all signed the Blow Up CD and Pat signed the soundtrack CD from his ESPN TV series.

Part 3
Once again old pal Dave I catches up with the Smitherens while performing down in Lakewood, NJ. All the guys graciously sign my copies of their latest...Meet The Smithereens and their new Christmas CD. Thanks all!!

Part 4
There should be no question that this is yet another acquire by the great Dave Iozzia! Dave "swiped" the dressing room door sign for the band to sign while at another appearance at NYC's BB King's.

Dave also had the other band members...vocalist Brett Scallions, bassist Phil Chen and drummer Ty Dennis sign the program for the evening's show.

ELP/Keith Emerson

Another "grand prize" win from WDHA that went from cool to sour to great...ELP was doing a Summer tour to promote their new CD. The shows were at outside venues. As grand prize winners, we were supposed to watch the entire show (Jason Bonham's band was the opening act) from the side of the stage and then meet ELP backstage after the show. That summer, there were alot of nasty thunderstorms with high winds rolling thru NJ. And, of course, the night of the show was another "stormy night". Not real bad, but just nasty! As it turned out, with the weather being potentially rough, Bonham decided not to play. And also due to the weather, it was decided that it might not be safe for us to be on the stage...so we ended up watching the show standing next to the soundboard stand. After the concert we made our way to the side of the stage where we met up with the DJ for DHA. He informed us that due to the weather and other things, ELP just got in their limo and went back to the hotel! Sucks, right? Now it gets better...the DJ (who's name I cannot remember and was a big ELP fan) told us that he knew which hotel the band was staying at and invited us to follow him over to see if the band would be hanging out in the hotel lounge. Well we did and they were...the DJ told their manager our story and we were promptly given a tour program, hats and shirts. We got to comfortably sit down for a while and chat one on one with Keith Emerson, Greg Lake and Carl Palmer!! It turned out so much better than how it was supposed to be!

A number of years later, my pal Dave Iozzia was interviewing members of Keith Emerson's solo band and got Keith to sign the Brain Salad Surgery CD insert which is also signed by Greg Lake and Carl Palmer. Keith's signature is a bit hard to see...right below Carl's and to the left of Greg's. Thanks for the gift, Dave!!

Foreigner

During 2005/2006 the newly reformed Foreigner have been touring heavily. And, it seems, most of those stops have been or will be in New Jersey! The new lineup consists of original, founding member Mick Jones, Kelly Hansen on vocals, Jeff Pilson on bass, Jason Bonham on drums, Thom Gimbal on sax and guitar and Jeff Jacobs on keyboards. As evident by the links here, I've met most of these guys on some of those previous stops. My buddy Dave Iozzia grabbed this door sign on his 3rd (or is it the 4th now??) concert of this tour and was nice enough to have all the band members sign it for me!.

Part 2 - While on tour during the Summer with Styx, my pal Dave picked up this tour-only edition of a live disc of the new line-up, presigned by all the band members.

Aretha Franklin / BB King

One of THE BEST prizes from WDHA...!! It was one of those weekend contests that you would call in and be entered to win the grand prize, which was two tickets to the Grammys in NYC (along with an overnite stay!). Needless to say, I was THE lucky winner! It was at Radio City and granted, the seats were as far back and as high up as you could get...but they WERE dead center. It was a cool event to see in person. Whoopi Goldberg was the host, Metallica and Queensryche performed, among others. And after the show, as Donna and I were leaving, you could look down from the staircases and see everybody exiting from the main floor. I could see Donald Trump and Mayor David Dinkins, among others, and I figured that the bottom of the stairs would be roped off to us "little people"...WRONG!! We had missed a great opportunity to rub shoulders with some great artists!! But, as we went outside, Aretha was having a smoke before her limo pulled up and BB King was there waiting as well, so I asked them to sign the program booklet.

Sammy Hagar

I have always been a Sammy fan since the days of Montrose, but this story has just proved to me how great a person Sammy is! First, a little backstory...my wife, Donna, and I are the same age. I was born in June, her in December. One milestone year (I'm not putting ages here!) she threw me a surprise birthday party. Since she was having the same "milestone" in December, I couldn't do the surprise party thing TOO! So, I decided to try and write to a bunch of her favorite celebrities...actors, musicians, SAMMY, etc...and ask them to write a happy birthday wish on the supplied return card. I would have the returns go to my folks house, so she wouldn't know about it. Well, I didn't get quite as many back as I would have hoped, but I got a decent handful. So her birthday (in December) comes and goes and she's really surprised by the autographs and stuff. Jump ahead a few months to the following March. I stop at my folks house and my Mom says "another one of those cards came". I'm thinking, it's 3 months later...who's sending it NOW?? Well, it turns out it's from Sammy!! He APOLOGIZES for being on the road and not getting to his mail right away, so here's a belated birthday greeting!!! Now he could have very easily just said, "hey I missed the date" and tossed it in the trash. But instead, Sammy was nice enough to go through the trouble to fill out the card and send it back. Thanks, Sammy!!!

UPDATE: ...and the Waboritas
Ten years after getting Sammy's autograph I am now able to add The Waboritas to the roster!! On a recent tour stop here in NJ at the Bergen PAC, I had the opportunity to grab Mona (bass), Victor Johnson (guitar) and David Lauser (drums) for their autographs. I have to admit, myself along with just a handful of other fans, were a bit disappointed to not have the opportunity to get Sammy's autograph that night...next time!!

Halestorm

I caught up with Lzzy and the guys from Halestorm (Arejay, Joey and Josh) while on tour with Chevelle and Burn Halo. I have to say that, aside from being a tight, rockin' band (with a one of the coolest drum solos I've seen on stage in a long time!), they are the friendliest group to their fans that I've come across in awhile. I've been lucky to have a met a number of artists over the years and most all have been terrific, but to see a band focus on their fans the way that Halestorm does is just wonderful. And a nod to their manager for grabbing Lzzy off the tour bus just before showtime to sign my stuff and grab a quick photo! Many thanks!!

Kelly Hansen (from Hurricane and now Foreigner)

I met Kelly as he, Mick Jones, Jason Bonham and Jeff Pilson arrived at the Count Basie Theater in Redbank, NJ during a tour in Foreigner. I had him sign the "classic" Hurricane CD booklet that was one of the many examples the PRMC sited as being "inappropriate" for young music buyers. Following releases had the woman removed from the photo. He also signed a booklet for a CD (Heaven and Earth) that he did vocal duties on along with Joe Lynn Turner, who had signed the booklet a few weeks earlier. Since I had to get these autographs, I covered my bases with my pal, Dave Iozzia (since Dave was going to the show, he was going to meet the guys after the show). So that's why the "blue" cover is signed in silver.

Guitar great, Gary Hoey was making a tour stop at The Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ on a HOT August day. As usual, I'm hanging in the parking lot in the late afternoon and NOBODY is around!! I later find out that Gary is about 3 hours late! Finally at 5:30, Gary and crew pull in the lot...with Gary DRIVING the minivan!! Very politely (after a long drive up from Maryland), Gary graciously signs my stuff and agrees to a photo. Sorry I couldn't make the show, but he promises to be in this area more often now that Gary lives in New Hampshire. Gary has been cranking out these great, rockin' Christmas CDs for years. Early in his career, he played guitar in a band called Heavy Bones and had I been a bit more on the ball (again!), I would have noticed that on drums for Heavy Bones was none other than Frankie Banali whom I had just met 2 days earlier!!

Glenn Hughes

OK...pay attention, cuz this one gets tricky...Joe Lynn Turner was stopping by (yet another) WDHA event. I grabbed a couple of inserts fom CDs that Joe was involved with and he signed 'em. Around the same time, my old art school (the duCret School of Art in Plainfield, NJ) was preparing to put together a fundraiser. I contacted Joe's management regarding some donations for our auction and as we were talking via e-mail, we got to talking about Joe's involvment in projects with Glenn Hughes. To make a long story short, I mailed out the inserts and they were returned to me with Glenn's signature...COOL!! But to be a jerk...when I opened the package I realized that one of the inserts was missing...so I again contacted Joe's managment, cried about it like a 4-year old, and got a replacement booklet but only signed by Joe...HEY!

Update - AWESOME! Having been a long time fan of Glenn's I had NEVER seen him live...until now! Dave scored some passes to one of Glenn's TWO shows in the US at BB Kings in NYC. Dave and I spent a fair amount of time backstage and chatted with Glenn and the other band members throughout the evening. I finally had the opportunity to have Glenn add his signature to a classic Deep Purple album previously signed by David Coverdale. It was a FANTASTIC show where Glenn sounded perfect! Thanks guys!!

Also on the bill was The Smithereens, They Might Be Giants and Joe Bonamassa among others. As Joan and her manager(?) snuck out of her trailer for a few minutes to take a walk down by the lake, another fan and myself grabbed a few seconds to say hi and snag an autograph.

Eric Johnson

Eric was making an appearance at Guitar Center in Springfield, NJ. I had him sign an advance copy of his new CD (which I had picked up at a record show for a few bucks). What makes this interesting is that the promo disc has the title as "Travel One Hope", but when it was released the title became "Venus Isle". This was another "Eric will only be signing one item per person" event...so I got hime to sign the G3 CD insert as well...HAH!!

Mick Jones (founding member of Foreigner)

I met Mick as he and Jason Bonham, Kelly Hansen and Jeff Pilson arrived at the Count Basie Theater in Redbank, NJ. Mick put together this great "super group" line up as touring band for Foreigner. I had him sign the insert for this limited edition CD I bought at a previous Foreigner show back in 1999. My pal, Dave Iozzia, who met with the band after the show, got Mick to sign the Mr. Moonlight insert shown on the right.

Juliette also spent a few minutes with Annie playing Frisbee!

Bruce Kulick (KISS, Union, ESP, and tons of other stuff!!)

Caught up with legendary guitarist, Bruce Kulick, at the Chiller Theater Convention 2009...so it was another "pay-for-my-signature" show. Bruce was friendly and very gracious in signing my extra stuff for just a few bucks more, but I must mention that the woman with him at the show was a bit annoying with $$ in her eyes. She was all greed and cash to the point where she "zoomed in" on my wallet to point out that I had the cash available...YEESH!

LA Guns

Once again, many thanks to my pal, Dave Iozzia... hanging out with the guys in LA Guns at a soundcheck in Clifton, Dave was able to snag autographs from band members Steve Riley, Stacy Blades and Adam Hamilton! (Sorry Guns fans, Phil Lewis was SLEEPING at the time!!)

LA Guns - Part 2
The Guns were back in NJ, on tour with WASP and Stephen Pearcy, playing at the Starland. I was hanging with Dave once again during soundcheck time and got to meet guitarist Stacy Blades. Naturally, lead singer Phil Lewis was not around at the time. Since Dave was heading back later that night to hit the show, he was kind enough to have Phil add his signature to a few CD inserts.

Geddy Lee of Rush

This is a great "combo-stalking" event. Geddy Lee was making a rare appearance at WDHA and Compact Disc World to promote the release of his first solo album. My friend Ted Dickinson, his friend Rob and I decided that we could hit both the DHA appearance and the CD World stop! So we spent our day running to CD World in the morning to buy the CD and get the wristband, driving up to the DHA studios for the afternoon appearance and then back to CD World in the evening to get on line for the meet and greet! What a buncha geeks!!

Later, for Cristmas, Dave surprised me with the band's latest disc, signed by ALL of the guys in the band...Steve B., Eric Morris, Sam Poitevent, Derrick LeFevre and Ken Koudelka.

Update- Again, my pal Dave I. caught up with the current line-up of Lillian Axe which now includes former Metal Church vocalist Ronny Munroe who replaced Derrick LeFevre. Dave snagged me the signed setlist along with Ronnie's signature on a Metal Church promo CD.

Lynyrd Skynyrd / Ricky Medlocke

Once again, my pal Dave Iozzia of Daves On Tour comes thru with some great stuff for me! Dave was able to arrange an interview with Ricky Medlocke of Blackfoot/Lynyrd Skynyrd fame. The cool part is that Dave would have liked to do the interview over the phone, but since Skynyrd was performing 2 nights in Atlantic City, Ricky prefered to have Dave do the interview face-to-face! While Dave was there, Ricky signed the Blackfoot insert and then asked some of the Skynyrd guys (like Billy Powell and Gary Rossington) to sign the booklets as well. Thanks Ricky!
